The latest result of modernization
Gentlemen,
We are
pleased to inform you about some of the latest results of our modernization.
We would like to appreciate your comments and, of course, we hope
you will find some useful tips about how to save on fuel and enhance
your engine’s performance.
December 25,
2003. Port Sevastopol (Ukraine)
| On 04.04.03. on the bulk carrier
"Fox"
(" Saratoga "), which was approaching
to port Novorossiysk for charging, main engine 7K45GF
was shifted to diesel fuel. After the first engine stop
it was not possible to start the engine again. Thus the
vessel ran aground on the shore of |
|
| Rybachya bay between ports Gelendzhik and Novorossiysk.
The vessel was sold to a new owner and refloated. The hull’s
damages were eliminated, but it still was not possible to start
the engine. The absence of HPFPs hydro density was the reason
of the engine failure |
After replacement of
plunger liners to standard new ones and installation of HPFP suction
valves designed by EDS Ltd, the engine was started from the first
attempt at low consumption of starting air. At the customer’s
requirement, all works are carried out only in 2 days.
The first voyage the
bulk carrier has accomplished on diesel fuel because of heavy
oil fuel separator failure. According report of Chief engineer
01.02.04, “fuel consumption has reduced from 10,5
tons till 7 tons per day in full-speed
mode. There are no failures of the engine while maneuvering”.
